Debauchery: No Sex Before Marriage. What Does The Bible Say?

In school, we learn about five main needs, namely food, water, shelter, clothing and air. In modern times, we could say that sex has become a necessity as well. People are always seeking sexual pleasures for various reasons.

Premarital sex is something that instils guilt in believers. As we know, the Bible condemns sexual immorality and adultery. In this article, let’s take a look at what the Bible says about premarital sex.

Sex Is God Created.

Sex has been created by God. It is a concept that was created to reproduce but also to link two people.

18 Let your fountain be blessed,

and rejoice in the wife of your youth,

19 a lovely deer, a graceful doe.

Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight;

be intoxicated always in her love.

– Proverbs 5: 18-19

This verse explicitly explains how sex is meant to be enjoyed and be pleasurable and, of course, guilt-free for everyone. However, I want to highlight the word ‘wife’, the verse makes it clear about having sex with your wife and not your girlfriend or ‘sex-friend’ (yes. because that is a thing these days).

Various verses explain how you should become one with your wife or husband, from Genesis 2:24 to Corinthians 6: 15-16. Becoming one with someone is similar to giving a piece of yourself away, but since you are not married, they may go away with that piece and leave you incomplete. Imagine having several one-night stands, you leave a piece of you wherever you go, to finally feel a void.

I Am Not Married but I Have Sexual Urges.

Life is not fair to the unmarried. You may be too young or haven’t met the right one yet but you still have sexual urges. How to deal with this? Let’s be clear sexual desire is not a sin. We are humans and this is natural. It is the way our bodies react and we have no control over it.

Make sure you know the difference between sexual urges and lust. You will find attractive people attractive, this is normal, but how you react to it is that really counts. Therefore, you should practice self-control and surrender in prayer about your attraction.

But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,

goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control.

There is no law against such things like these”

-Galatians 5:22-23

The Spirit gave us self-control, to be able to commit to our relationship with God. Even though our all-loving God knows how to forgive, indulging repeatedly in sin will only tarnish the relationship you have with Him.

Sex Before Marriage?

As far as we know the only form of accepted sexual intercourse is between the wife and husband, and anything else out of this is condemned by God. In Deuteronomy 22: 13-19, we can read about the condemnation that is attached to sex before marriage.

Of course, repentance is accepted, but one cannot repent for a sin that he will continue to commit. Forgiveness is only given to those who are willing to confess with a pure heart and willing to change afterwards.

Is Abstinence Absurd Or Realistic?

In a fast-living world we often think that abstinence is absurd and not achievable, but keep that in mind that God won’t ask you something you are not capable of. There are still a lot of youngsters who practice abstinence for various reasons, so if one can do it, you can do it too. Do not let you be guided by the world but follow the word of God to succeed.
